Terms of Service

Last updated 21 September 2026

These terms apply to PrepPrimePaint.ca, operated by Prep Prime Paint. Using the quote builder or booking work with us means you accept them.

What the quote builder gives you

A single price. The builder prices the rooms and surfaces you describe — at the sizes you enter, or at the typical size you pick for that kind of room — and shows you one number. We hold that price, as long as what we find when we arrive matches what you entered: the rooms, the sizes and the work in your quote. The next section says exactly what that condition means.

No visit before the work starts. We do not need to come out first to confirm a quote built here — the price is already locked to what is in it, and we arrive to do the work rather than to re-measure it. If you would rather we came out and quoted the job in person, ask: there is no charge for that visit, and you are never obligated to proceed.

Not needing a confirmation visit is not the same as the price being unconditional. We confirm the price with you on the day the work is due to start, before anything is moved or covered, and we honour it as long as the rooms and sizes in your quote are accurate. The next section sets out exactly what happens if they are not.

A quote this builder gave you before 10 September 2026 as a range of prices rather than a single number is an estimate, not a price we hold: for those, a brief visit before any work starts produces the price.

Stairs are priced from what you tell us, like everything else. The number of steps, the width across a tread, the spindle count, whether the handrail is included and how the existing finish is holding up are all things you enter, and the price follows from them. That makes them the one part of a quote where the answers are hardest to be sure of from the top of the stairs — so if the count or the condition turns out to be different from what you entered, the section below applies to the stair work exactly as it does to a room.

Where an estimate forms part of your agreement with us, Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 does not allow us to charge more than 10% above that estimate unless you agree to the change. We treat that as a ceiling, not a target.

When we hold your price — and when we do not

This section applies to the single price described above. Where you were shown a range before 10 September 2026, there is no price to hold: the on-site visit produces the number.

“As long as what we find matches what you entered” is the whole condition. It is checked when we arrive rather than at a separate visit beforehand, which changes when you would hear about a problem but not whether the condition applies. These are the ways it fails:

  • The measurements are materially off. The rooms, decks, fences or surfaces are substantially larger than the sizes in your quote.
  • The scope is different. There are rooms, surfaces, doors or storeys to be painted that the quote did not include.
  • There are conditions we could not see. Water damage, failing drywall or plaster, previous coatings that will not hold a new one, lead or asbestos in an older home, or repairs beyond ordinary prep.
  • You change what you asked for. Different products or paint grades, added work, or a colour change that needs priming the quote did not price.

This is about material differences, not small variances. A size that turns out slightly off — yours or our typical one — does not cost you your price. A room you forgot to mention is a different matter.

If one of the above applies, we re-quote the job and tell you the new price before any work starts. You are free to decline at that point and owe us nothing. We do not add charges to an invoice you have not agreed to.

A price we hold is good for 30 days from the date we give it to you. After that, material costs may have moved and we may need to re-quote.

Prices and taxes

All prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes unless we say otherwise in writing.

Scheduling and access

Work is scheduled by agreement — after the on-site visit where there is one, and directly from your confirmed quote where there is not. You are responsible for giving us safe access to the areas being painted at the agreed times, and for telling us about anything we would not otherwise know — pets, alarm systems, fresh repairs, or known hazards in the building.

Please move or protect valuables, fragile items and electronics before we arrive. We move ordinary furniture and cover what stays, but we would rather you handle the irreplaceable things yourself.

Weather governs exterior work. Painting in the wrong conditions produces a finish that fails, so we will reschedule rather than push through it.

Changes to the work

If you ask for work beyond what was quoted, or we find conditions that were not visible when the job was quoted, we will price the change and get your approval before doing it. We do not add charges to an invoice you have not agreed to.

Payment

Every job needs a deposit of a third of the quote (33.33%) to book your dates. The rest is paid when the work is done, by card or e-Transfer.

Cancellation

You can cancel or reschedule at no charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled start. Inside 48 hours we may charge for materials already bought specifically for your job and for crew time we could not reassign.

We may cancel or reschedule if conditions make the work unsafe or likely to fail. If we do, you owe nothing for the cancelled portion.

Those are our scheduling terms. They sit on top of your statutory cancellation right — never instead of it. See Your rights under Ontario law below.

Our work

We carry commercial liability insurance. We will do the work in a professional manner using the products specified in your quote, and we will leave the site tidy.

The 2-year workmanship warranty

Every job we complete carries a 24-month workmanship warranty, running from the day we finish your job. It covers how we apply the finish, not the product wearing out or wear on surfaces that get walked on.

It is a repair warranty. We come back, re-prep and re-coat the affected area with the product on your quote, at no charge. Except where the law does not allow that remedy to be limited, repair is the remedy under this warranty — it is not a refund, and a repair does not restart the 24 months.

The warranty in full — everything it covers, everything it does not, and how to make a claim — is set out on our warranty page. It forms part of these terms.

This warranty is in addition to your rights under Ontario law and does not limit them. See Your rights under Ontario law below.

What we are not responsible for

We are not responsible for pre-existing defects, for failures of previous coatings or substrates we did not install, for damage from moisture or structural movement that was already present, or for the condition of surfaces we advised against painting.

Except where the law does not allow it to be limited, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the work in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability for personal injury or anything else that cannot be limited under Ontario law.

Service area

We serve Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Markham, Vaughan and North York. If you are just outside it, ask anyway — we will tell you honestly whether we can get to you.

Your rights under Ontario law

Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 gives you rights these terms cannot reduce. Where anything above conflicts with them, the Act wins.

A ten-day right to cancel. An agreement signed somewhere other than our place of business — at your home, for example — is a direct agreement. You may cancel it within ten days of receiving your written copy, for any reason or none, without penalty. The 48-hour scheduling terms above do not shorten that.

A cap on estimate overruns. Where an estimate forms part of your agreement, we may not charge more than 10% above it unless you agree to the change.

Quality of work. The Act deems the services we supply to be of a reasonably acceptable quality. That warranty cannot be waived, and nothing here attempts to — including the limits set out above.

If you think we have fallen short, tell us first at hello@prepprimepaint.ca. Most things are fixable in an afternoon. You can also raise it with Ontario’s consumer protection office.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page. The terms that apply to your project are the ones in effect on the date of your quote.
