Exterior Painting

The front of your house is judged from the street, and it's almost always the door, the garage, and the porch that date it. These are small surfaces that take the worst of the weather, so they live or die on prep: washed, scuffed, primed where it matters, then two coats of a proper exterior acrylic. We focus on these elements rather than the whole exterior, which means we can do them properly instead of rushing them as an afterthought.

How we do it

   Quote & colour

   Build your quote online and you'll get one price for the job — no visit needed first. When we arrive, we check the existing finish against your quote before anything is sanded.

   Wash & degrease

   Doors, frames, and railings washed down to remove road film, pollen, and chalking — paint will not bond through any of it.

3. 3

   Scuff, fill & mask

   Surfaces sanded to a mechanical key, dings filled, hardware and weatherstripping removed or masked, glass and brickwork protected.

   Prime where it counts

   Bare spots and drastic colour changes get a stain-blocking bonding primer so the old colour can't ghost through the new one.

5. 5

   Two finish coats

   Two coats of Sherwin-Williams exterior acrylic — SuperPaint, Duration, or Emerald Rain Refresh depending on the exposure and the finish you want.

   Rehang & walkthrough

   Hardware refitted, doors checked for clean operation and close, then a walkthrough with you before we pack up.

Common questions

What exactly does exterior painting cover?

Front doors and their frames, garage doors and the trim around them, and porch pillars and railings. We deliberately scope it to these elements rather than the whole exterior — they're the parts that drive curb appeal, and they need more careful prep than a broad spray job. We do not take on whole-house exterior work.

Can you paint both sides of my front door?

Yes, and it's an option right in the quote builder. The interior face is a different environment from the exterior one, so painting both sides at once is the cleanest way to change a door's colour — you're not left with the old shade staring at you from the hallway.

I'm going from a dark colour to a light one. Is that a problem?

It just needs the right primer. Big colour swings get a stain-blocking bonding primer before the finish coats, otherwise the old colour ghosts through and you end up needing extra coats to bury it. Tick "drastic colour change" in the quote builder and it's priced in from the start.

Do you paint the trim around the garage door too?

Yes — it's an option on the quote, either in the same colour as the door or in a separate accent colour. A separate colour costs a little more because it means extra cutting-in by hand, so it's priced as its own choice rather than assumed.

Which paint do you use on exteriors?

Sherwin-Williams exterior acrylic latex — SuperPaint, Duration, or Emerald Rain Refresh. Which one depends on how exposed the surface is and how long you want to go before the next repaint. The paint is included in your quote, not added on later.

What time of year can exterior painting be done in Ontario?

It needs steady temperatures and a dry stretch for the coating to cure, so we book into the right weather window rather than painting ahead of rain. Rushing a coat is the most common reason an exterior finish fails early, and a door that gets rained on before it cures has to be redone.

Will my door be unusable while you work?

Only briefly. We plan around it — hardware comes off, the door gets painted and given time to set, then it's rehung and checked so it closes and latches properly before we leave. We won't leave you unable to lock your front door overnight.
